I hope this comes off as a mostly simple question.

For the joindate and the stars in the steel series, is it possible to:

1) add more categories, or perhaps decrease time thresholds and
2) if it can be edited is it done in postbit legacy in the section below, and
3) how are the numbers in the code interpreted?

Yep, sure is.. just add new if conditionals. The long numbers are equal to the number of seconds in the 'category'.

Got it. I did some staring at the numbers, tried them in an online web date translator and then realized they were seconds. I'll do some math tomorrow.
