Kall, will there be Steelstyle series updates for the new vB 4?

Heya Rakehel,

I've always promised to have updated versions of the vBE styles available for download within 2 weeks of the Gold version of a vB version update. Oftentimes it's a lot quicker than 2 weeks.

So, yes. There will be vB 4 compatible versions of all the available vBE Styles. Might take up to a fortnight, but depending on when they release it, might be within a couple of days.

Thanks for responding. I ask because they're saying that this will be a significant change, but I can't determine which elements will be that affected beyond the new content management page. (We wouldn't be using the blog feature.) vB.com is saying that old skins will no longer work.

Oh, it surely is a significant change. A great deal of it is moving into css, which scares me just a tad.

It's fairly unlikely that I'll be able to exactly match what you see here today, but it should be close.

I've just uploaded a very early Alpha of Steel Blue 4.x to the Downloads area, please have a look and give me feedback.

4.x Steel Series - vBulletin Enhancement - vBulletin Styles and Services

It's just CSS at the moment, no images.

Thanks for the update Kall. The blue style looks good and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for an updated green style. We'll use it and the style change is what is holding us up. (and making certain no further vB patch releases for v4.0 come out soon.)

I've been doing a lot of reading at vB.com the past couple of weeks, I wasn't aware of everything that had been going on. I must say that while I understand that companies change hands and that's fine, I'm still just a little disappointed with what vB turned out regarding the v4.0 product. It's sort of phpBB-ish and seems like a step back from v3.8.4.
